I can't believe everyone doesn't LOVE this show! The only thing I don't love about it is that it is too short! "Bedroom eyes!" come on! THAT'S CREEPY!

I think the show has a terrific message! Personally, I find the animation creepy & the show makes my son cry, but we are not the target audience for this program. We simply change the channel before the show comes on and as soon as possible after an ad for the show starts.

It amazes me how so many people are TERRIFIED of something that's obviously different. It's no surprise though, REAL ART will always ruffle feathers. If it's simply not your style or your cup of tea, move on. As an artist, I get how people are "uncomfortable" with Dirtgirl's appearance, but I really believe the only reason people are freaked out by her eyes is because you don't really notice her nose in most of the scenes. It's all about perception, if her nose was more prominent, her eyes would not appear quite so huge and offensive to people... she would look like many cartoon characters we are already familiar with that have exaggerated features. Has any one noticed how huge Dora's head is? Dirtgirl is just more artistic and creative.

My 3 year old daughter and I LOVE Dirtgirl, I genuinely appreciate Sprout taking on an appreciation of the "unique" and helping emphasize important values like teaching creativity, compassion for other living things, self-sufficient living and personal responsibility. I sincerely hope that Sprout does not condemn the rest of us to the masses of meaningless cutesy-shows that PATRONIZE our children all because of others who would have us all be just like them. I strongly disagree with the idea that it's only an adults job to help the planet, if we don't emphasize these things NOW when our children are young, they will grow up as indifferent as our own generations. Important lessons should start at the beginning of life. It is our job to teach our children how our negligence and need for convenience is leaving us with a world that needs saving. Thank GOD Sprout recognizes that.

My granddaughter is almost 4 and is obsessed with Dirtgirl, problem is when does it air? We keep seeing small segments but it should be under your regular programming or does longer versions come on dvd? She was so excited today, but it only aired from 2:00-2:10 PACIFIC. Thankyou

I think the backgrounds and colors of this show is beautiful. I also like the positive message. I do think the main characters don't look right. I get the idea of using exaggerated expressions and such but I think they over did it to the point where it's uncomfortable. The small characters are much less off putting. I think this has to do with the head sizes. I'd be curious to see if the characters would still be creepy if their head size was reduced- so that their bodies could actually support them. You'd still see some of the expressions, but not so exaggerated- which might be good if people are seeing such weird things in them. Having a background in art and animation, I couldn't help leave a critique.

    Ha! Ha! Ha!

I’m shocked and disappointed that parents can take an innocent cartoon and turn it lusty. WOW! You must be insecure about your own relationships. My daughters have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. So may be your jealous of dirt girl. This cartoon is awesome! The target audience is perfect, for 4-7 year olds who are not quite mature enough to watch cartoon network. My girls love to dance and sing and be little muddy princesses outside. It’s great! Keep it on air!

This is a positive show with a few new twists. It may not be like every other show out there, but DirtGirl doesn't follow the herd. I want my girls to know it is ok to think for yourself and have your own style. Don't tell me your kid won;t let you change the channel, you are the adult for Pete's sake!
Please stop trashing this show, and either enjoy it or change the channel. As a society, it would be great if we could embrace differences, rather than piling on everyone not just like us.
This show has great messages, great ideas, and can change the schedule for your little one (less indoors, more outside). So what if there are a few words your toddler haven't heard yet? Gee, folks, they are here to learn new stuff!
So take a chance, and GO GET GRUBBY!

My kids LOVE this show - thanks Sprout. (ok, I'll admit it - I kind of like it also.)

I really can’t stand this show. I’m disappointed in Sprout. It started with the “Wiggles”… grown men… calling themselves “Wiggles” -creepy. Not to mention the lack of story, educational, or even humorous material. Now they have a strange looking couple of people (maybe?) and bugs with human faces… I’m confused. And as far as the “message” goes, if you depend on television shows to teach your child to respect the environment then you have bigger issues. But still- Bob, Wonder Pets, Frannies Feet, and several others teach about being outside and “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. We do not watch a lot of television but I had to switch to Disney in the A.M. and just do not watch at all when dirtgirlworld is on. I’m sure someone will have a nasty comment to make about what I have said but oh well…

Ah, i tried watching it once, when sprout was lazily left on the T.V, to see what the hype was about.

The characters overall are just creepy. Not thier looks (which, ARE rather creepy) but thier personalilties...just very off-putting.

Though i do belive that "saving our earth" is important, and we need to reduce our emissions, but we dont need to be feeding these problems to our kids at such a young age. They dont need to be concerned about the world, thats an adults job.

  15. Cajita Feliz said: 5/12/2010 09:30 PM

Yes.. let's change the world and cancel something our kids love because YOUR child gets scared.

    Get over it.

And I totally agree with Rebecca. Just because they have big eyes doesn't make them "bedroom" eyes. PEOPLE LOOK DIFFERENT. I'm not going to call someone a slut because maybe her eyes are bigger than mine. I wiggle my eyebrows at my son because he thinks it's funny. If I did it to another adult male, maybe it would be come-hither, but it is to my child.

No one can be provocative in overalls and galoshes. It's just not possible. You are projecting your own dirty thoughts and vulgarity on a cartoon character. YOU are the lusty ones. Not dirtgirl.

I adore dirtgirl world. As a child, other girls made fun of me for being playing in grass and rolling down hills and getting dirty during recess. I'm glad to see something that tells girls, we can get grubby too. NO MORE LITTLE WHITE GLOVES.

  16. Rebecca said: 5/6/2010 12:04 PM

They aren't bedroom eyes..Just because someone has big eyes and uses expression with their eyebrows when they are talking, doesn't mean they are trying to seduce you! You have it all completely wrong. If she just stood there with boring non expressive eyes and eyebrows, the kids wouldn't like the show much...Just incase you haven't noticed, children love excitement and expression!

  17. Rebecca said: 5/6/2010 12:01 PM

When are they going to be playing this regularly? I think it is a great show, and my son loves it! I hope you keep this show on Sprout, it is a awesome show for children.

  18. Jill said: 5/3/2010 06:46 PM

I really like the music, but I agree, it gives me the willies. It's their mouths. They seem to over emphasize mouthing the words. It's creepy. I love the concept though. Little girls need to be encouraged to go outside and play and get grubby.

  19. Rachel said: 5/3/2010 05:16 PM

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one with bad feelings about this show. I don't care that it looks strange since it doesn't scare my daughter, but she does seem to have quite a bit of attitude. As for the bedroom eyes, I completely agree- it's one of the first things I noticed. I do love the message but we won't be watching. As my daughter's verbal skills rapidly expand I don't need that influence.

This is a really great show with a great message.
