Sprout for Parents

Thanks for Thanksgiving!

Every year, we have the tradition at SproutforParents of taking time to be thankful. We're thankful that you share your time with us online, and for all the parent ideas we get to explore here. As parents ourselves, we’re thankful for every minute we can spend with our kids, and for that time of night when the kids are finally asleep and we have a few quiet moments to ourselves! We're thankful for friends and family and arts and crafts and food and parties and…the list goes on and on.

We’re also thankful that so many of you have donated to The Great Sprout Tuck-In. In fact, we’ve given away so many pajamas to children who really need them that we’re going to re-launch the campaign. If you do something once, it’s a good idea. If you do it twice, it becomes a tradition!

If you’d like to contribute pajamas to The Great Sprout Tuck-In as part of your family tradition go to our Make a Donation page for more details.

What traditions do you enjoy in your family at the holidays? Have you done the same things since you were a child? Or are you creating new memories with new traditions?

The ticker at the bottom of the screen during programming today as well as the live phone calls are just a little annoying. I'm all for encouraging children to express what they are thankful for and teaching the importance of giving gratitude, but really - it's obvious that the majority of the comments on the ticker are coming from parents or other adults when the kid is only 1 year old and he/she seems to be expressing in complete, coherent, detailed sentences all the things that they are thankful for...and many of the kids calling in on he phone are too young to even talk and we can all hear the parent mumbling in the background telling the child what to say. They aren't even old enough to understand at that age! It's just a little too much.

I asked Tannor my 3 year old what he was thankful for last night. Him being only 3, I was waiting for the response of "What me thankful for mommy?" To my surprise he said "I'm thankful for my Daddy and Momma!" If that doesnt make you get warm fuzzies, I dont know what would:)
