Momma D Jane, one of Sprout's Band of Bloggers is back this month discussing a very pertinent question:
“What do you consider the perfect Father’s Day Gift?”
When I think of Father's Day the first image that pops into my head is of hideous neck ties and boxes of golf tees. I'm not sure why the holiday is commercialized to me that way considering I never bought my Father a neck tie and he didn't play golf.
I'm a single mother so I don't have a husband to plan the perfect Father's Day for. When thinking about how I would picture it, not to sound sexist, but I see it completely opposite of how my dream Mother's Day would go. Where I dream of a fabulous day with my kids, I picture dads to dream of playing golf or spending time away from the busy work and family life. A day taking part in whatever hobby he does have or doing something for himself. Of course all compliments of his children and wife sending him off to enjoy himself on his day. Because Father's Day is HIS day, right?
I honestly can't remember how I spent Father's Day growing up but once I reached adulthood my Father and I have more in common. Father's Day usually consists of breakfast or lunch and going to see a new released movie at the theater. My father is a huge movie fan and my parents usually go weekly, so taking him to the movie is an easy gift. To me, men are difficult to buy for, at least the men in my family. I have purchased gifts like lawn accessories, plants and gift cards to favorite restaurants for my dad.
What do you and your family like to do on Father's Day? Do you think Dad's really dream of Father's Day?
